Manitoba is home to approximately 30 craft breweries. Craft brewers work collaboratively to promote, celebrate and showcase the variety of great local products available at events like the Manitoba Ag Days Craft Beer Tasting. Sidney and Larissa Stevenson are the owners of Section 6 Brewing Co in Brandon, MB. They have deep ties to agriculture and they enjoy the community that is built around craft beer. Their goal is to brew an approachable product that everyone can enjoy and create a space where everyone is welcome. So what does it take to make quality beer? Quality ingredients, of course. Malt barley is the backbone of good beer. Luckily, we have lots of that in Manitoba too! There are approximately 380,000 acres of malt barley grown in Manitoba each year. We have the ideal climate and soil acidity to get good quality malt that is sought after by maltsters because it produces beer with lots of flavour.
