Manitoba Chicken Caring For Communities

Harvest Manitoba distributes food to over 80,000 Manitobans each month through food banks, soup kitchens, school lunch programs and low income day care centres. Historically, organizations like Harvest Manitoba struggle to get consistent donations of fresh, lean protein. A new partnership between Manitoba Chicken Producers, Dunn-Rite Foods and Exceldor Co-operative aims to change that. Since July 2020, the Caring For Communities program has committed to providing Harvest Manitoba with 1000 chickens per week. These chickens have been donated by local farmers, transported and processed by Exceldor or Dunn-Rite and provide a guaranteed, predictable supply of nutritious protein for Harvest Manitoba’s clients.
