Farmer Shares Passion for Cooking

Eric is a 3rd generation turkey farmer from the Interlake. His turkey breeder farm is a busy place, not only because someone needs to be in the barn from 4:00am – 6:00pm daily, but because the family also cares for many other pets.  At the time of our visit they had 3 cats, 4 dogs, 9 puppies, a pony, a calf, and “too many turkeys to consider them pets”. Eric and his wife Lindsey, who is a veterinary technician, have passed their love of animals on to their 3 kids and they are proud of taking good care of them. Eric credits investments in barn automation for allowing him time to focus on animal care and food safety. As registered turkey breeders they are a part of a national on-farm food safety program. When he’s not busy tending to his turkeys, Eric has a unique hobby. He shares cooking tutorials on his YouTube channel, “The Chubby Farmer”.  He believes no one should be intimidated by cooking, especially when they have access to high quality Canadian ingredients.
