Mushroom Mozza Burger

Ingredients

  • 6 patties (one recipe Classic Ground Beef and Mushroom Blend)
  • 2 cups (500 mL) sliced fresh mushrooms (white and crimini)
  • 2 Tbsp (30 mL) butter or margarine
  • 6 slices Mozzarella cheese
  • 6 slices, bacon, cooked
  • Toppings: lettuce, tomato, onion
  • 6 whole wheat hamburger buns

Method

  1. Prepare Classic Ground Beef and Mushroom Blend according to recipe directions. Shape mixture into 6 patties.
  2. Grill or cook patties until desired doneness and internal temperature reaches at least 160 F.
  3. In frypan stir cook mushrooms in butter for 4 – 5 minutes.  Set aside.
  4. Place one slice of Mozzarella cheese on each patty during last minute of cooking to melt cheese.
  5. To assemble: Place patty with melted cheese on bun. Top with bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion and sautéed mushrooms. Serve with favourite condiments.
