Mushroom Meatball Subs

Ingredients

  • One recipe Classic Ground Beef and Mushroom Blend
  • 1+1/2 cups (375 mL) favourite pasta sauce
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) grated part-skim Mozzarella cheese
  • 4 (10-inch) submarine buns, sliced in half lengthwise, toasted

Method

  1. Prepare Classic Ground Beef and Mushroom Blend according to recipe directions. Shape mixture into 1-inch meatballs.
  2. Place meatballs on baking sheet. Bake at 400 F for 10 – 12 minutes or until browned and cooked through.
  3. In frypan on medium heat bring sauce to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat and add cooked meatballs. Cover and simmer 5 minutes.
  5. To serve: Place toasted buns on baking sheet. Spoon one quarter of meatball and sauce mixture onto each bun. Top with grated cheese. Broil to melt cheese. Serve with additional sauce, if desired.
